What to do with a visiting grand puppy while playing all day with the grandson at Disneyland? You contact Wendy Newell through DogVacay.com of course! If you have not heard of DogVacay, the Santa Monica based company hooks pet owners up with pet care givers pretty much anywhere (US and Canada currently) – kind of like Airbnb for dogs. If you do know it then you’d be wise to bookmark Wendy’s page right now. The way DogVacay usually works is you find a sitter’s profile that suits you and your pooch’s fancy, make contact (through on-site email), set up a meet and greet and schedule a dog drop off.
Why Wendy is so awesome – Grand puppy Cairo was traveling from the Bay area the day before. Wendy handled everything via email and phone and welcomed Cairo into her home at 7 am before we headed to D-land. As our day of fun went on and we kept getting in long lines with half of Southern California, Wendy said yes to every text we sent asking for ‘just a little bit longer’ – we finally picked up a happy and worn out pup at 11:30 that night!! As a bonus, Wendy sent us pix of Cairo’s big adventure such as hanging out with Wendy’s dog Riggins, riding in the front sit (something she never gets to do in her family car!), hiking in Ruuyon Canyon and stealing Riggin’s spot on the couch next to Wendy. Wendy sent Cairo home with treats, a xmas tree ornament, a typed detailed description of her their day together (providing great info for future dog sits) and a photo!
A great solution and great experience. Thanks Wendy!
And yes, we exhausted ourselves at D-land. The grandson LOVED Star Tours! Twice!
